MOM'S ANISETTE COOKIES
As a child I remember my mom making these cookies which we all loved.
- Ingredients:
- 4 Cups all purpose flour (really need an additional cup to make it not stick)
- 6 Eggs.
- 1 Stick crisco
- 6 tsp. baking powder
- 1 Cup sugar
- 2 tsp anisette liquor or anise extract
- 1 tsp. anise seeds
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. lemon extract (opt)

- Instructions:
- Beat crisco and sugar until well blended. Add eggs, anisette liquor or anise extract, anise seeds, salt and lemon extract, beat for several minutes. Gradually add flour, baking powder, mix for 5-6 minutes until it forms a ball and does not stick to bowl.

- Roll sections of dough into 1 inch rope, cut in six inches and make all different shapes. Bake on ungreased sheets at 350 degree - place on second rung and bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown and then transfer to top rung and bake for 5-10 minutes until golden brown.

- Makes at least 6 dozen or more, depending on the size of each cookie. Sprinkle with confectionary sugar or icing or frosting.

- Boil water or milk in a double boiler.
- Add confectionery sugar.
- 1 tsp. vanilla or anise.
